Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program: Cultivating Healthy Environments
The Cultivating Healthy Environments Program will award grants for projects in EPA’s Region 7 under the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (TCGM). This funding prioritizes communities disproportionately affected by environmental and public health challenges in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and adjoining Indigenous Nations.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through Spring 2027. Funding awards will range from $75,000 to $350,000 to help organizations assess, plan, and implement environmental and climate programs.

At this time, our region’s Cultivating Health Environments (Thriving Communities Grantmaking) Program is operational. We are encouraging people to continue moving their grant applications forward. If you intend to continue with your application, please visit the Step-by-Step Guide to Applying to the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaker Program page provided by the Environmental Protection Network. We encourage you to take advantage of EPN’s resources, and continue to use the resources our team has provided. We also suggest signing up to receive TCGM Region 7 emails using the form at the bottom of the TCGM Region 7 website and registering with their application portal.

The EPA has numerous Environmental Justice-related funding opportunities to carry out environmental and climate justice activities to benefit high-priority communities. Grants range in size and scope and include community concerns like brownfields, workforce development, and water quality.
Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Funding Navigator provides a listing of funding opportunities under the Inflation Reduction Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and others across federal agencies to support efforts to enhance climate resiliency, energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, healthy housing, workforce development and environmental justice in HUD supported communities, programs, and properties.
Rural Development Grant Assistance
USDA Rural Development forges partnerships with rural communities, funding projects that bring services to rural America. Rural Development works with low-income individuals, State, local and Indian Tribal governments, as well as private and nonprofit organizations and user-owned cooperatives.
